Starlink initial release now available in parts of NSW and VIC

For people who can afford it, it's now available in limited areas with other areas to come online soon. Skymuster will have to get its act together quick smart if it wants to exist into the future.

SpaceX Starlink internet service is live in Australia, starting with VIC and NSW - techAU

This is an interesting web site that let you track satellites. The Starlink sats are very easy to see.

My mate doing a world tour in his Iveco Daily got his a few weeks ago, He is locked down in Canada , he reckons it is cranking over 200mbps .

The account must be at a fixed address so soon as he confirms it still works when he is allowed to travel some distance I'll get one for the Van.

My mate in Canada has been testing his a bit more , the dish can stand 120kmh wind gusts whilst deployed and not drop a signal. Thats impressive , I would have thought it packs itself down if it sensed a gust at that speed, Also no problems moving to a new location with the new firmware , the dish will still find and bind to a satellite and allow full bandwidth without any error messages.

I have been following this with interest. The only real problem I see is that it is expensive, and if I manage to afford it I will probably sign up when it moves out of beta. As I understand it, right at the moment it is limited to south of 32° S in Australia until more ground stations are operational. Guess what my latitude is!

We are just outside of Canberra and have our Starlink up running. Speeds 150-200Mbps with latency 25-40ms. Occasional drop out for 5-20 seconds when there is not a satellite in range which should get better as more satellites get into position. It's awesome to get this speed and reliability when we can't get a wired connection and mobile coverage is very weak.
