    PROTONMAIL....anybody here use it?

I was directed to Proton mail by an interesting organisation I currently subscribe to.

you can go in free or choose your own level of security.

it appears once you set up your filters no unauthorised mailer can message you at all

it automatically messages the addresses you want notified of your change of email server

you can keep your old email server if you want , but why?

I'm just wondering if any Aulro members are using it or should I be the crash test dummy?

T'wife uses proton mail, it was recommended by her IT savvy (paranoid?!) brother.
She rates it and loves the filters and the lack of spam.

Blocking spam allegedly from my own email address.

I've had a couple of these from the same person,They're pretty disgusting and demand bitcoin etc, and to start with I couldn't figure out how to block them because I couldn't see anything but my own address.
Now I've found the rats address, if I use the normal blocking procedure, on the rat's email address will they stop? I'm using a MacBook and it's all up to date.

The problem with those is they use someone else's insecure server as a relay, or they use bots on IoT devices / Windows machines as smtp servers, so it's like playing "whack a mole". They rarely use the same address/server more than a couple of times.

While I'm here, never click any link (particularly the "unsubscribe" links) on any spam email, even if you think you may have inadvertently subscribed. Just ignore/delete as they only serve to confirm you have a live address and will multiply any crap you already receive.

Got one this morning (allegedly) from the US IRS! Needless to say, detailed headers show this is not where it came from. Also had one (allegedly) from my RSP - but why would they use a (hidden) gmail address to email their customers?
