Spent from mid day to about 6pm today on the phone (sorry on WhatsApp as cannot speak to them anymore) as my laptop shut down if I disconnected the power cable. We went through lists of standard script checks which lead nowhere. I was sending pictures of and videos of screens flickering and lights flashing yellow and white and Keyboard back lights flashing

Now there had previously been problems with wi fi connection, a key on the key board had broken and the battery had swollen bending the keyboard upwards. After lots of checks was agreed needed repair

All this was ‘fixed’ yesterday by the tech who came out with the parts. Good service after a few hours on phone to work through their scripts they had someone out the next day with all parts to fix

When tech had finished yesterday said it was odd that the battery had no charge. Leave it plugged in for a few hours and all will be good then left

This seemed strange to me but they are the experts and had good service previously so left it plugged in ready to use today. Only now was worse than before the fix as could not use it at all. When had finished tests the laptop would no longer even turn. Was decided I should speak to their battery expert tomorrow as this was the problem. Yes they had checked with me the numbers on the battery to so it was the correct one that had been supplied and fitted

If the battery was not the problem would have to send them the laptop for their specialist tech to investigate which would require me to be without the laptop the at least a week. Now am leaving lunch time tomorrow to travel for a meeting on Friday so this is not very convenient. After their repair am now worse off than before when it at least worked

When investigating the lights that were flashing they had sent me a PDF which also covered how to complete repairs on the laptop. My very non expert diagnosis kept coming back to the battery with no charge and the laptop shutting down when power cable removed. Raised this a couple of times but not on the script so no go. Tests did not say this was a problem

As need the laptop and had enough instructions to open it thought let’s see if the connections for the battery has been put in properly. Nothing to lose and to me despite the diagnostic tests seems possible.

Follow instructions and open laptop. Says before removing battery move this switch to off. Guess which switch was still at the off position!!!!!! Move switch to on position and turn on laptop and all now good

Without those instructions the laptop would have ended up going back to the manufacturer for specialist repair
