    Transferring to a new PC

I've been given a PC with motherboard that has a later processor (i7) and graphics card than my current PC (i5) running Windows 10.

Is there any (easy) way to transfer programs to the new system. Obviously the registry might cause issues.

I'd have thought that just swapping the drives to the new case wouldn't work as the app drivers will be different.

I have a backup image of the C: drive that could be restored onto a new drive in the new PC.

I make a backup then jam the old drive in the new pc then fire up.

As you are already i5 and going to another intel chip (and already have a backup) you should be ok to give it a shot.

The generic drivers normally take over when different chips/chipsets are detected then update to the correct drivers for the new board automagically most of the time.

Windows is a bit more forgiving/smarter now with hardware changes and keeping the licence going.

    Just do it.
