Getting sound out of a TV...

The headphone jack has broken apart and successfully jammed itself inside the socket...
The TV has two HDMI sockets( one marked ARC )
    An AV in
    A Optical audio socket
    A LAN port
and a USB port (that has my movie drive attached)

The wired headphones I'm using are worth more than twice what the telly cost so I'd like to use them rather than buy another ( Bluetooth) set...

    any ideas?

There are optical (toslink connectors) to headphone (usually 3.5mm) adapters and also HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) audio extractors. Easily googleable. Both at a wide range of prices. HDMI ARC would be better for multi channel audio but that is probably not required for your headphones. Check if there is any settings in your TV to allow the tv volume to change the volume at the optical and/or hdmi arc. Many are fixed volume only as they are intended to go to some sort of sound system.

TV may have HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) which could be enabled for volume control.

Use the USB port for a docking station: it's not locked to just one input/output.

Can you use a screwdriver or small rod and glue the tip to the broken jack and after it hardens, remove the broken piece?
