Thread: Microsoft Office - 2010 - Outlook

I use MS Outlook 2010 on my Win 10 system. I recently had to change emails from TPG and have been trying to program Outlook to use the new email and forget the old one. Problem is the system will not forget the old email even though I have deleted it in the Outlook settings - folders are being shared between emails.

So I thought I would do a clean install. Uninstalled MS Office, went through all the file directories and deleted obvious files and then ran CC Cleaner to remove any loose files etc.

I then reloaded Office and tried to open Outlook but it is looking for the new email data file (PST) which I would have thought it would not have done as it is a clean install - clearly some of the old install files are still on the computer.

So at the moment - Outlook is essentially locked as I cannot load up the new email.

Any suggestions?

I know it's a sorta Holden vs Ford argument to some, but not for me. If it wasn't for the archaic and arcane BBS software for Nanocom maintenance I would have nothing to do with Windows. I find it astonishing that people put up with the problems, and that the OS just gets in the way so often. And the costs, and bloody product keys if you want full functionality. IMO Windows is only "Essential" for business to keep jobs in the IT departments. Sure, some stuff such as medical imaging doesn't have alternatives in the Mac or Linux environments, but that stuff still seems to run NT ffs. But I do have it on VBox, 7 and 10. I simply cannot understand why those two OS versions are basically unrecognizable as being related to each other.. and don't get me started on 11. I'd prefer OS 9.

macOS is perfect for me. Well, it was. I love the annual updates, for free. The functionality just improves, but in general everything is still where you expect it to be, it never nags, it doesn't advertise, it has no browser "expectations". I find it intuitive to use after major OS improvements. In fact, it's quite surprising to go back to an older version, say five years ago, to see what changes they actually made, so quickly do you get used to the new ones. The big problem, for me, with the constant updates, is that eventually I will be forced to bite the Silicon bullet, which I can't really afford. But pretty soon they will drop support for the intel chip that my 13,2 iMac has. I run macOS 14.6 Sonoma currently via patching, but the old graphics card is definitely feeling the strain. But, if my 2007 iMac can run LinuxMint then this one will too.

That said, I don't see the point of Linux for an individual, apart from open source, obviously. macOS has all the advantages of being a UNIX 03 certified OS*, which gives it power that Windoze can only dream about. The CLI ( Terminal in speak ) can do anything.... including untold damage to the novice ☹️. Of course, macOS on a Mac is not a place for gamers or geeks who tweak, but that's why there's the Hackintosh community. Some of those things are incredible.

*Does that still apply to the ARM based OS?
