    internet disconnects

    well, not really, the actual connection is always-on, but the PC redials the modem,, often.

    using FF2,,
    seems to be just since my last windows install??


    (in the middle of picking a new download manager, any ideas??
    so no "resume" ,,, whats another 50mg?
    )

    If using Win 2000, ME XP etc., try

    Control panel, Internet options, Connections

    Then check the box that says

    Never dial a connection

    Maybe it ..............but maybe not.

    arnet you on adsl?

    use ppoa instead of ppoe and hard set it in the modem.

    If it's not ADSL and is still a good old PSTN modem make sure call waiting is disabled as this can easily drop a modem connection

    You haven't got the ADSL modem connected via USB ?
    Has your PC and ADSL modem a network plug ?
