If you were in Sydney, I'd say go to the Sunday morning computer market at North Rocks Muirfield School. Two weeks ago, a friend bought a very good laptop quite cheaply and I bought an HP 17" flat screen LCD monitor in excellent condition (no lines through the pic) for $100. It has as big a screen as the 19" CRT monitor it replaced.

Last year i bought an ibm lappy of ebay from a local seller for $370 was 1gig 256 ram 20 gig hdd and came with 3 month warranty, was then offered a better Toshiba 1.6 P (M) 512 ram 60 gig hdd centrino dvd/cdrw etc for $500 so i sold the ibm back on ebay for $425 :D The guy i bought it from was pretty easy going and let me choose the best of the stock he had.
If you look at the Computer Trader website there is always some cheapies for sale there.
In that case, go for a "hardened Mil Spec" machine. I saw a video of a US Army laptop, it had been shot through the Windows Start button, by a crazy with an AK47.:( Still worked well, just could not turn it off.:cool:Quote:
