    dusty

any clever ideas on dust removal from Pc's?

am thinking compressed air,, have the compressor from the car---

I usually just pull it to bits and dust it one piece at a time,,

this one has 10 fans though,,,

compressed air is BAD JUJU, it generates/carries static

horse hair brush and vacuum cleaner is wayyyy safer but still not 100% perfect.

always leave power cable plugged in and place a hand on chassis so you short any static you may have in your body to earth... though even that isnt 100% on some power supplies... it is usually a way safer practice than antistatic straps.

leave a cedar ball in the case when you finish to keep spiders etc out.

Get a can of compressed air / air duster and give it a blast. Make sure you hold the fans (with a pen or something) so they don't spin up to a zillion rpm and get damaged. Do the job outside if possible too.

    well, now everything is clean,,
but I cant get my cordless mouse and keyboard to work together,,
have de and reinstalled, but no go. It depends on which usb port I use as to whether the mouse or keyboard works. They are both supposedly USB2 so it really shouldnt matter,, what is weird is I cant just plug the old cord mouse or keyboard in,,
seems "plug and Play"s not working

    strange,,

    and I hate cords!!!

keyboard and mouse combo will have a "sync" button some where on both the reciever and each device.
Plug them both in and the reciever; press the button on the reciever then on the devices without 10-15 seconds of each other.
8 out of ten will fix it

I spent about 3 hours yesterday trying to sync 'em

logitech reccommended a XP CLEAN INSTALL
    which basically means shut down
    SYSTEM.ini
    WIN.ini
    no startup items,

before I did this the option was SELECTIVE, now it seems to ne NORMAL,,
could it be as simple as PLUG AND PLAY turned off in services?

    well we are cordless again

plug and play was set to manual,, which threw me untill I tried to start the service and the service that PnP relies on was set to disable

set THAT to manual and the windows blip blip when plugging in usb cables was back!

still only have ONE eye lit on the logitech receiver
so I'm ASSUMMING both items are running through the one channel??

anyway, time to pack all the "defender" gear back in the cave where it belongs,,,
