Same as what I have. Is it a compaq?
Printable View
nope, an acer,,
now,
no listing for the usb thumb drive,,
as for HDD controllers,,
vista has "Storage Controllers"????
ENE PCI memory stick card reader controller
ENE PCI secure digital/MMC card reader cont
ENE PCI smartmedia/xD card reader cont
Microsoft iSCSI initiator
ide controller then....
what ever is controlling the hard drive
if nothing changes in that device listing under usb devices when you plug it in then the hardware isnt telling windows that there has been a voltage change and a device plugged in.
you tried other devices in that port?
yea, tried it in all 3 usbs,, nothing.
and all 3 work another usb device.
its not showing at all in devices,,,
I have found something on microsofts site that says
flash drives that are ntfs will be seen as fixed drives,,
but thats a no no to vista so the workaround is---
use fat file usb drives,,,,
see here
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927841/en-us
why in hell would you format a thumb drive in ntfs ?
sort of defeats the purpose on all levels imho
maybe because the rest of my files are in ntfs?
is it as simple as reformatting the drive?
yep, do it as fat32, just about anything can read it then...
easier said than done,,
put files on the drive yeaterday,,
nothing today,,
no recognition anywhere,,, XP or vista
any more tricks up that sleeve Inc?
buy a new drive :P
