    Laptop Specific software..

My 40 gig LG LS50a laptop decided to have a spit and now it refuses to load up the OS.

It loads the Bios and we have a flash of Windows but it then defaults back to the start up of Bios.

I have inserted the Recovery Disk and went to check things out only to be told...the C drive is corrupt and wishes to be formatted. Thats it, it has gone as far as I can go.

So I decided to upgrade to 120gb and have installed XP Pro but I do not have the laptop specific software. This Installation Disk sets up the laptop for all its function buttons and other LG stuff.

I have been on searching for drivers or installation software with very little to be found.

Where do we get Installation software so I can recover my LG LS50a laptop to its original state?

    Rant over...

    Yes.

I have looked everywhere in there. There are a number of issues to work through.

Xp Pro was not recognising some of the hardware like modem, wireless, video ect. Windows loaded generic drives and I have been working through these one at a time. It has been just a guess for software compatability as the laptop is not giving specifications.

But the annoying thing at this stage is the function buttions. F6 turns the wireless off/on. F7 switches the screens or additional monitors on/off, all this laptop specific stuff is not functioning.

More work is required, no doubt.

    At here: http://au.lge.com/support/software.jsp

There are listed 4 pages of individual drivers for the LS50. ( I went thru something like this with my IBM R52...). There is a hiccup with their page, in that the series box is misshapen. But you can click on it and select LS50, and then go on to selecting xp as the os, then search. The prev/back buttons don't work, select each page individually. Write down which file is which. Once downloaded, unzip and run the progs - they should create their own folders for the drivers. Then delete the various bits of said hardware in system - on reboot XP should be able to find the new drivers, or you might have to steer it to the unzipped folder. In relation to the function buttons, it may be that once the OSD is correctly driven the function buttons will work properly.
