    wireless drop outs

I just fit a dlink dsl-g604tgen11 adsl2/2 modem 802.11g wirelessrouter to my home comp.It replaced a thompson speedtouch modem, now every hour or so the modem drops out for a split second and reconnects.
Not a great problem if just reading web forumns etc BUT a real pain if up/down loading web pages or music. It disconnects from the dl site and loses what is already down(or up)loaded. The dlink is also a bit slower.
Never had a problem till I changed modems.Main comp on hard wire lap top on wireless, both drop out BUT not a the same time.
    Any hints?
    cheers

There maybe a setting in the modem called 'lease time' - you may have it set for 60 mins

Thats just a speculation - as I have seen the settings in my set up but have never played with them

Also see if there re any firware updates for your modem and dirver updates for your wireless card/receiver.

I had a simmilar problem with a "Billion" wireless router I ended up replacing it with a Netgear, then no issues.
Also call the manufacturer support line for your modem if they have one?

hand held phones tend to collide wireless modems...

if you have a hand held wireless phone i suggest setting it up so it uses a low channel eg 2,3 or 4 and have a look in your wireless router settings and make sure you are using a high channel such as 13, 14 or 15 ..
