will my copy of ms office 2000 work ok under vista, I just want to know before I try and load it as my laptop came with a trial version of vista office and it has now expired and I dont feel like forking out over $400 for the basic version of vista office.

From what I've read here you should have no problems with Office, but might see some issues with Outlook (if you use it). Word, Excel, PowerPoint et al should work fine though.

If your daughter has a valid University email address you can get Office Ultimate 2007 for $75AUD. Microsoft has a special offer for University students at the following website:

I'm at the Uni of Tas and took this offer up last year. It's legitimate and you won't find a cheaper price for Office.

It will work fine, contrary to what some are saying. I have Vista Home Premium and Office 2000 Professional and it works fine on my new laptop, no issues at all. There are a few conflicts with some other software and games. Damn Microsoft, you would think by now they would make sure of backwards compatability and adequate drivers.
