    PC with multiple AV output

    Hiya,

A client has asked me to price the following:

A 46" display in their building's foyer that can display 3 AV streams, being:
1> Info from our control system - easy, can do this.
2> "Advertising" info - Again easy, I'm going to assume any content provided would be on a DVD so the source is the PC's DVD player.
3> TV - Will allow for a digital tuner card connected to the building's matv system.

The client will choose the AV stream as required.

    So here's my question(s):
If I use a TV for the display with 3 AV inputs, the client could use the TV remote to switch between same. But I'd need an AV output card in the PC with 3 outputs. This is simple from the client point of view in that all 3 streams would always be transmitting and they just use the TV remote to change AV inputs. Assuming that the PC would not be easily accessible but the TV would be, I think this would be the way to go.

So is the 3 AV output scenario feasible? If so, could someone suggest a card to use.

The other way would be to switch a single AV output on the PC to one of the 3 sources. Keep in mind that the PC may not be easily accessible (may not be in range of a remote).

    Would appreciate some guidance.

    Cheers.

i have a TV/Monitor brand name ProView - the tv tuner is built in - and in addition to that it has the following inputs

    AV
    S-video
    YPbPr
    HDMI
    VGA

Mine is only small (TV/Monitor ) but I know they did some massive models - over 48"

    and it wasn't that expensive

i understand what you're asking for.

worst case is perhaps having to buy a bluetooth remote controlled tv-out card so you can change which output is being transmitted from the pc by it to the tv's inputs, even if the pc is hidden in a cupboard or different room. i hope that makes sense.

i dont think you will need to use 3 inputs on the tv. if my brain is working properly, i think it'll work out easier to have the pc do the switching(same end result and basic method from the operators POV) hence get a bluetooth remote controlled card.

i dont have a great knowledge on tv tuner cards and the like. but a good place for parts at least is msy. they arent really customer service/problem solving orientated, so much as a warehouse environment. i dont work for them or anything, but they have alot of that sort of stuff, and for very good money.

so if I have understood this you want one display screen with x3 AV inputs.

    1. output from your control system, (assuming this is a PC?)
    2. DVD output
    3. digital TV output

What I would do is buy a large display LCD/plasma with x2 RCA inputs and an in-built digital TV receiver, (quite common).

Then connect your control system via a single dual video out card in the pc, (one out for the PC monitor and one out for your large display).

I would then simply buy a standard DVD player and connect that directly to the large monitor. I know you could use the DVD player in the PC but this keeps it nice and simple.

As for remote control of the large monitor you can buy remote control "senders" they have a sender unit you can place anywhere in radio distance of the large monitor, about 100m and a reciever you connect to the monitor. It works with any remote control.
I dont know the brand name but they are available, we have two at work.
