You'll need to check the connections (I assume they would be USB and so compatible) and then the websites to see if they are compatible eg provide drivers etc.

No their not USB, so it looks like I have to start from scratch with the Mac.

easy to keep using XP - you just have to have all the right drivers due to PCI express now. Apart from that - oh & hard drive controllers - you should be fine ;)

I hadn't realised that you hadn't met Pedro.

Just go to ubuntu (or your favourite linux). Most likely you will not even need to change printers as linux picks up on a lot of printers.
