Bunnings?
I have a couple of small gadgets that run on 1.5v AA batteries - alkaline type.
I want to put in rechargables but most are NiMh which are only 1.2v which is the same voltage that a 1.5 alkaline is when it is just about dead - as a result some of my appliances (digtaphone - model helicopter) will not work properly as the voltage is too low.
I went to Jaycar and Dick Smith this morning (battery world were closed) to get the good old NiCad batterys which are 1.5v - guess what NiCads are no longer carried.
Any ideas on where else might still carry NiCads - I appreciate they are old technology but they can be managed.
Cheers

Try here: Servaas Products very good to deal with and knows about what he's selling, so if in doubt give him a call.

Hmm
I always thought that nicad & nimh were all 1.2v
Interesting, I am pretty sure they are working on lipo fpr AA's now but how long is anyones guess.

There are whats called hump packs available for nimhs, they contain 5 cells to make up to 6v.
I find that I can still use them for ordinary applications and just realise to change and charge more often than standard alkalines.
what you have to watch I guess is the voltage drop under load and it may just come under voltage cut-off and you loose all control from heli or whatever its used for.
Have you checked the venom and other rechargable batteries fro RC vehicles for ther voltages?
I sould suggest sub C cells, but they aren't 1.5v either.

I use varta re-chargables in AA and AAA size, good german made batteries and quick chargers - helps when i get them cheap thru work.

But are they 1.2v or 1.5v? It would seem there are no modern 1.5v AA or AAA rechargeable batteries.
Thanks to everyone for the comments - 1.2v work OK on most things but do not work in my voice recorder when connected to my computer - I will keep a set of 1.5v alkaline batteries for this function.
Cheers
