I'd be trying to rule out if it's your browser, plug in or the OS that's causing the problem. YouTube clips are just an FLV file or something.. can you play them through another media player? Tried another web browser?
yep tried explorer,,
tried media player,,
tried the Microsoft Audio Mr Fixit(who didnt, and wont run in their own 64bit browser:p)
running Xfi latest drivers, latest 64bit vista codec pack,
it must be something SP2 did,,
Only other thing I can think of is go back and try version 9 of flash, assuming you are using version 10 now. I had some trouble with sound using version 10 initially. No problems with version 9 though, but I was not using vista 64.
There is also a standalone utility around somewhere to ensure flash is completely removed when you uninstall it - "uninstall_flash_player.exe". Maybe give it a run before trying to install flash again.
Thanks Ferret:D
will try 9 again!
am quite happy to uninstall SP2 to get sound back,,,
My audio drivers come from Creative,,,
You raise a good point though,,
Creative are ALWAYS slow with new drivers,,
[Maybe Creative doesnt work with SP2.???]
the current one is November last year,,
have asked my sound card to upgrade its driver,, says its up to date--
its easy to blame Creative,, and in the past (from Sound Blaster till now) it HAS been Creative's fault.
but this time,, no.
its a Vista setting.
maybe its Firefox?!?
just installed Safari4 and have my vid sound back!!
You mean you didn't try it in IE?
