my mac mini is the first computer i have brought from new and although everybody mentioned they just work well mine must have been the odd one out

over the last few days since upgrading

    parental control stopped working
    very slow changing between account
the curser would change to a spinning rainbow stopping you from clicking

after 2 or 3 calls to support (which by the way is excellent a real person in australia) it now appears to be all good, we downloaded some updates, changed a few setting etc etc etc

    changes between accounts quickly
    no more spinning rainbow
    restarts very quick
i can send and receive emails
i can restart the computer and email setting stay put

    hopefully no more issues

In hindsight I shouldn't have told you to upgrade straight away! I'll wear that.

Interestingly I haven't re-booted mine since she came up after the upgrade.....

    2 options

    mail-preferences
out going mail server should have mail.tpg.com.au:username (your wife's)
click on the button with the up and down arrows
    click edit SMPT
    option 1
click use custom port and enter 25 (I used this for a week or so) you will need to reset this everytime you restart the computer
    option 2
    click use default ports
    click authenication
    click password
    enter user name
    enter password

I noticed in 10.6.1 there were some mail fixes. I'm not sure if this will sort this problem though.
