    Cd to itunes/ ipod coverter software for Mac

    Can anyone recommend a software to convert cds for my ipod - i downloaded one a while ago but cannot find it anywhere on my comp? So need to find another - the one that i had name started with S....... or how can I find it on my comp.

    iTunes will do this for you all by itself mate. Pop in a CD, click the "import" button, and let the software do its thing. Once iTunes has converted all of the tracks to mp3, you can add them to your iPod.

    So why won't Itunes create mp3 files? Surely there must be a way on the apple to convert the generic M4a files back to Mp3 or do I have to buy yet another friggin' programme?



    From memory XP media player could select what format to rip the files to with a simple click of the mouse.


    (media player in my County plays MP3 and WAV files)

    I am interested in this also.

    I "inherited" about 6 gigs of music in AAC .

    I have been told that I would lose accuracy/sound quality if I converted to MP3 as you are converting from one compressed format to another.

    Why would you want MP3 anyway for an Ipod? I may be/am probably incorrect but I understand that MP3 is the format for non Ipod
    applications such as USB sticks/players and AAC is the best/ most accurate for Ipod.

    This is important to me as I intend to replace my old car unit with an ipod compatable unit maybe with controller , and just run all my music through Ipod. If you can convert to AAC to MP3 without too much quality loss then I could just get an MP3 compatable unit , which is much cheaper. However I personally think AAC/ipod gives a better sound quality than MP3, going on my son's setup. Yes I know it depends on sampling rate etc.

    I haven't done it yet as my old 10 stacker will not die after 17 years, and will run Itunes produced cds. So I currently just burn Cds including compressed voice book Cds which I just burn to Itunes then burn Cds.

    So could some guru please comment?

    I changed the preferences on Itunes and am now importing all of my music again, this time onto MP3
