A VGA to VGA cable would probably be the best bet, as far as I know all Plasma / LCD tvs have a VGA input.
You shouldn't require a converter for this to work, I have used my laptop on the plasma at home and work as a display with no problems.
I have a HP Presario 793 with an Intel (R) 965 Express chipset video card.
The laptop has a S video port and a VGA port plus USBs.
I have been trying to find out without success whether I can show a JPEG slide show on my analogue Hitachi Plasma preferably via the composite camera input .
The TV also has the following unused inputs
S video X2
VGA plus audio for connection to a PC
HDMI /DVI
2 component inputs are used by Digital set top boxes.
I would rather be able to use the camera input as it is more likely that friends' TVs would have them. Otherwise to me The VGA /VGA would seem the way to go.
BUt do I need a translation box as I have been told by Jaycar staff or can I just connect directly.

As DD Disco said ... Use the standard PC VGA cable ...
BUT ... Don't "hold a picture" for a long time on the Plasma, as my understanding is, they don't have a refresh and you can burn the image onto the screen (unlike the LCD) ... so keep the pictures cycling
If your using the windows desktop ... don't hold the Desktop for too long // utilise the screen saver
Also if you get "Ghosting" on the screen ... then try a different VGA cable, as they can be fussy
Enjoy the BIG picture....

If you're trying to show jpg's you may be have other issues regarding format. Try a test jpg as baseline, not progressive scan, and set the resolution to something small (say 600 pixel width). If that works, work your way up in resolution until it doesn't work and you'll know what the max is.
If it's a one-off presentation, and you don't feel comfortable messing about with cables and such, you can always create a DVD slideshow with Nero Burning ROM, or similar DVD burning software. Basically it allows you to add photos to a DVD, alter settings such as merge and time delay, and burns it to a DVD that you can play in your DVD player... just a thought.
Thanks all .
Its mainly to bore my family with my 7-800 Kimberley photos so they will probably go to sleep after 15 minutes .

Thanks all , it works well.
Resolution is much better than showing a slide show from the camera, Panasonic TZ2.
I wonder why?

Picture from camera as playback device, poor resolution
Most likely because when showing on the camera it only uses pictures decoded to a low resolution ie 200 x ... pixles. It then just uses that picture when sending to the external screen
I have a mimi itx pc connected to TV with a vga cable and get good resolution up to 1280x720 , mostly use my xbox with XBMC to stream jpegs from my pc and use the built in slideshow viewer.
