Windows7 a Con? Well it comes from Micro$oft

I didn't think it was rude.

In fact I agree with it. It is holden vs ford and the arguments go no where. No minds are ever changed and no views are ever influenced.

7 is tops. I dislike windows in general and have run ubuntu a few times, its excellent but I just cant do what I need to do with it. Compozer it good, but not good enough. What I wish is that the world switched to open source overnight. Dell are starting to ship with ubuntu and I did read somewhere the french government also uses it.

FYI those of you who dont know (I realise some computer genius's are on this thread) you can go half way by replacing outlook with thunderbird, and office with openoffice, nero with cdburnerxp and pdf-xchange for a pdf viewer. All free and very good. I wont mention FF as I assume most people reading this use it.

Ubuntu is better and easier to use than any XP, Vista, Windose 7. NO MORE VIRUSES, SPYWARE, MALWARE anymore....ajust, customised, Ubuntu to your hearts content. You'll find a replacements for all your Windo$e requirements, there's a great Ubuntu Forums who will help with any problems. The best is there's no need for you personally to buy that Mac, or a new PC, because Ubuntu is FREE, drivers, all software you'll ever need, FREE everything is opensource.

You'll then one day you may realize your no longer battling to get everything in line and for the first time enjoying using your computer:D:D....

Mac OS, Windows, Ubuntu usability aside the one thing that really amazes me is the price Microsoft charges for a Windows upgrade. I'm amazed they haven't brought the price down over the last few years to at least below $100.

Mind you it has come down a lot from the days of Windows 3.11 but I still think they are over charging for the home user.

That's not true... I haven't written any viruses for Window 7 yet... :D :D Can't say too much about the other versions :wasntme: :wasntme:

Anyway I've been working a Windows 7 virus with this guy online who calls himself "Little Green Man". We had hoped to have it ready for launch, but he's been letting the side down. He claims he's been busy with "abductions" or something like that.. ;)

I use, from work, a Mac Book Pro with Snow Leopard. I have also installed Parallels with Win7 Enterprise without any major issues but I have not really done much with it yet. It is all running under 32 bit mode.

Booting Win7 seems quite snappy and there do not appear to be too many issues so far.

I have found Snow Leopard to have some important changes to, for example, networking protocols and management that are very annoying. The new AFP in Snow Leopard is not backward compatible with Leopard for a number of good reasons but it now means that connecting to my G5 I have to address its IP address instead of its computer name. Another example is gcc, which defaults to the 64 bit version of the compiler. In the greater scheme of things these are mere annoyances and certainly not show stoppers.

Together I think they are a good combination if there are applications that you need to run under Win7. If you don't want to run under emulation then install using bootcamp on the Mac.

At work I run SAP front end & at home SAP on a Citrix connection plus Office 2007. Occasionally Autocad 2010.
Our IT dept in Sydney doesn't even support SAP on Vista (i had to work this out myself) so what hope would i have running it on a Mac Windows emulator?

Actually citrix make a mac client. That's the whole idea of citrix - it's OS independent. I used to use this all the time at a previous employer.
