Unhappy Windows7 a Con? Well it comes from Micro$oft

I have been running Windows 7 RC (Ultimate, which is the only available download)for several months now & have been pretty impressed with performance compared to my Vista Ultimate running on Asus M51VA laptop.
Mind you i didn't load Win7 partition up with all the crap I have loaded on Vista.
Latest Nov09 PCUser Mag does indepth comparisons of all OS's & Win7 is only fractionally faster than Vista in all results.
If you downloaded the Windows7 RC (Ultimate only) as I did , the only way to continue using it after March 2010 is to pay for the Ultimate version even if you don't require all the Ultimate features.
No thanks! I will be staying with my fully payed for Vista Ultimate (now SP2) which is now performing far better than Win XP Pro ever did.
I have tried various Linux versions, but compatibility with MS Office & other business applications, plus hardware driver issues have driven me back to the Windoze camp (unfortunately).

I bought a TechNet subscription for A$384, which gives me 10 CD Keys for "ANY" of the MS OS"s. Mind you, it's the first legit version of an OS that i have paid for since DOS 5.0 !!!

I tested Vista and it sucked, Windows 7 RTM runs a lot better than Pista ever did. I'm quite happy with it. The driver issues are solved by loading either XP or Vista drivers.

If you don't like Micro$oft then you can always go Apple's OS's.

And I bet it costs more than the $39 to upgrade a Mac ($69 for up to 5 Mac's) from Leopard to Snow Leopard.

I think a Windows Vista Home Premium Upgrade pack is still over $100 per PC

Yeah, I might have to consider Mac (or at least running Mac OS on a compatible laptop) for my next PC.
We had a work experience kid in at work recently & I was very impressed by the performance of his tiny Mac Book. The only negatives I saw was poor compatibility with some video file formats, but apparently Apple have fixed this with Snow Leopard from what I've heard.

I'm just waiting to see what they meant by the free upgrade from vista to 7. I bought right at the time this was announced. Was also thinking about64 bit over 32.

I have an MSDN tech subscription, gives me 10 keys, installed 7 about 5 weeks ago now, much better than Vista, faster, more stable.

    Pain

I'm sticking with Windows XP Pro until all of you early adopters have felt the pain and Windows have fixed Win7 and all the bugs identified through your service calls. There is no way that I will migrate to Vista. Win7, maybe in a couple of years

I bit the bullet and bought a Mac last year and haven't looked back, I've got XP through Vmware but I hardly use it. Upgrading to snow leopard soon.
