Yeah it's amazing value! And the 27" supports video INPUT via display port - I was thinking about getting a 30" ACD which is $2798...the quad-core 27" iMac is $2599! So for $199 less you get a computer as well as a display which is almost as big as the 30"!

Since I have always been a windows person, I was going to upgrade early next year to a windows box with similar specs to the quad core iMac.

Just been doing the sums and the iMac is looking really good price wise.

My biggest problem is that I have a considerable investment in Windows software and going iMac is going to add several thousand dollars to the cost.

Most of the time on forums we get people saying that someone should change operating systems but ignore the cost of new software.

And no mention of unix stuff please. It is irrelevant to this thread

That's got to be the best value combination on the market.
Had my Mac book pro for couple of years
But there is nothing like having plenty of real estate to work on, and 27" is pretty good. 30" screens are still a bit pricey.

Get VMware Fusion and run Windows for software you need...then over time buy Mac equivalents instead of upgrading the windows version. It's a very easy and convenient way to transition at your own pace while reducing initial software migration costs.
