    Agggggh

    Had a drive corruption yesterday.Spent all night salvaging what I could. Saved 78 gig of data but lost 530 gig.
    Not happy jan as it was not backed up

    Yes I do worek in IT and yes I know about backing up. I have the family photos backed up.
    It gets worse.
    Been getting .net errors all day and the drive is mangled again. Been installing every update I could find today to try and sort out the cause.

    Is it possible that the drive is physically corrupt? I'm assuming you've recovered data and formatted again, so if you're still getting errors I'd grab a disk utility from the HDD manufacturer and check the physical status of the drive.

    Disk passed checks and has now been reformatted.
    Fault was a failed update on a program and the dreaded .net update.

    And yes guys I'm running vista

    I had only done the windows disk check between crashes as was about to move the salvaged data when it went again. Good news is all updates are now installed and some programs have been uninstalled and redone. Even my weather station is running properly with vista now.

    Waiting for microsoft to get back to me about the upgrade to 7......
