It may make Vista (or XP) look like 7, but that's all. You don't end up with a 7 core machine!
One of the improvements that Win7 introduced is taming of User Account Control (UAC). This got me thinking that someone might have already done this with Vista.
I found this site Technology News, Internet, Tips-n-Tricks, Tutorials, Software Reviews, Themes, Skins, Wallpapers which has loads of free Vista tweaks including how to transform Vista to Win7 (after all Win7 is based on Vista core code). There is also a neat utility called TweakUAC Disable annoying Vista UAC popups with TweakUAC (FREE) that allows you to control UAC.

From what I have read Windows7 core code is based on Vista.
Windows7 is what Vista should have been if MS Marketing hadn't rushed product to market. Vista Ultimate with SP2 is a very stable OS. I've not had a "Blue Screen Of Death" or other lockup since installing SP1 & SP2.
I agree that using these tweaks won't give you all the functionality of Win7 (such as better memory management), but after purchasing Vista Ultimate only 12 months ago I am not prepared to fork out over $350 for upgrade to Win7 with it's probable bugs that will be fixed with future service packs.
