Take the belt off and clean it with water & detergent. The more gunk added to the belt, the more gunk it attracts, the more noise generated. It can be cleaned in situ. Just takes a while. Works for me.

My PS Pump decided to fail (seize) in the middle of Kew Junction on Tuesday. The pulley has run forward about 8-10mm and the belt runs off from the rear, into the path of the A/C belt thus unleashing hell.

Both belts and the A/C wiring harness got mangled and the underbonnet 30amp fuse for the condensor fans and airconditioning clutch blew. Not happy as I had to drive through the intersection and clearway at peak hour to a side street with no water pump, cooling fan or electric fans!!!!

My PAS pump had the same problem and I was warned by a LR mechanic to replace it NOW or suffer the problems you seem to have encountered.

I was advised that the AC wiring was a non fixable item and that a new AC compressor would be required.

    How did you end-up?

Now Joel, that was silly of you to even drive it knowing that the ps pulley had drifted forward already, the signs were there and you took the risk and paid the price.

how'd you get along with this bud? Got the same issue and trying to work out what to do. I'm going to give the belt wash a chop and see if that helps.. curious if you come up with a solution

60 seconds with a Stanley knife and a 7PK1580 Serpentine belt is now a 5PK1580.

The pump turns and the belt doesn't run off the back any more. Beautiful.

Untill it comes all the way out and it will seize and take out your rad/ intercooler and possibly the alt as well.
