    tad of advice....

hi guys, im sorry i know the tyres talk has been spoken many a times but i have searched and cant really find the answer im looking for...as such...

basicaly 300TDI.... installing 2 inch lift Dobinson coils with bilstein shocks.
i am looking at putting on either 265/75s or 235/85s in BFG KM2... i have seen a D1 with 265 all terrains and they fitted under the guards fine. i am aware i will need no camel cut and do steering stops but basically im worried that maybe the side lugs of a mud may catch inner guard lip? am i worrying over nothing?
Also is having the wider tyre going to benefit me over the skinnier? beig wider more weight , harder for engine? it would minor id say but i dont know. .. is there any extra cutting to be done for a 265 over a 235?. can anyone who runs these sizes or has experience with them help advise me lol... i dont wanna spend $1500 on something that could have been better.. thanks guys and sorry for bringing it up again

IMHO and many tyres and cars later, I like skinnies well if you can call 235's skinny.

Big tires do put more strain on running gear, increase fuel consumption and usually noise but on sand, they have their plusses.

Also if traveling, big or unusual sizes are harder to find people carry them and delays may occur.
They look good though when they fill the whole guard and make that roar as you drive past."Kidding"

I also found that realistically I do 98% of on road and hence opted for 235/75/16.
Little bit more clearance, commonly stocked at dealers and still good performance.
Everything is a bit of a compromise I guess.

Hope that helps, also I hear the km2's are great tires.

gday mate, thanks for your advice.... yeh ive looked inot lots of different sizes including the 235/75 the 245/75 and others and you are correct.. i mean we all love to get out and go bush and be capable .. but in reality it is literally a minute % of the driving we actually do... which is why i think ill go the km2 instead of crawlers or simexs like my mates are telling me lol.. i still have to drive it to work everyday and would prefer to hear the radio over the tires ... both tires are a commn size and stocked regualry which is another reason im considering them as the 265 very common for patrols/cruisers and the 235 for defenders.. and as they same ground clearances dute to both being almost 32" its basically the wide vs. skinny debate. and as u said 235 aint all that skinny... and it rare ill be on the sand anyway, mainly mud.. and a deflate could solve the width problem if i did do sand driving... the only othe aspect i can think ok is perhaps road handling, ie, cornering high speed bends.. having a wider tyre being more stable as opposed to skinnier higher profile tyre maybe rolling? but i guess cant be much different to the stock 205 vs. 235 really
