    Are my 300Tdi injectors Stoofed?

Just noticed a lose of power a few days ago and had a look under the bonnet. I found that three injectors seem to be leaking but the first one (Towards front of engine) is fine and dry. they are leaking from the bottom of the injector under the holder. i checked the nuts and they seem tight, Are they stuffed and would i have to change them over? what is the process to change them over? are they hard to change and what else should i look for? is it also dangerous for the fuel to leak on a hot engine? just had a look at rave and it seems pretty simple but i just dont belive it lol. many thanks.

Check out another thread where somone had problems getting the injectors out and then had to take off the head. just had the engine rebuilt around 7months ago so i'm thinking/hoping they will come out easy. also with the loss of power might be due to loss of compression as the copper washes are buggered. again had a look at rave and it seems easy to do, but me myself and i nothing is ever easy lol.

Also found this from another thread..

Hey, guess what? Mechanic phoned today to say a cracked head at the gallery where the No.3 injector goes in.
I suggested he check the head the first time around, and it wasn't done. He only sent the injectors away for a rebuild and cold-tested the fuel pressure regulator.
For the record, the telling sign was a sudden, noticeable loss of power up hills, with the engine struggling to get above 4000rpm. Ran fine on the flat, although acceleration was a bit sluggish. The effect was something akin to someone suddenly putting a two-tonne load on the back.

i'm having the exact same symptons as this bloke going up hills. could it be a cracked head??? even after just building the bloody thing!!!!!!!

stop stressing! its easy to be over negative with these things.
if the injectors are leaking, sort that issue out first, what about the possible leaking fuel supply hose from your other thread?

Mate I have to stress as it's the same symptons as the other member here only thing I got no diesel in the oil. Have to do this myself as can't afford to take it to the spanners.

yeah mate of course do everything yourself, no point paying someone to overcharge you lol, the point im trying to make is there is likely to be more than 1 possible cause for those symptoms, stressing about it wont make them go away, you need to methodically troubleshoot those problems, i havent had a look at the RAVE manual for the 300tdi (i will tonight) but surely there are methods of elimination to find the root cause of problems, hang on, before i say anything more, im gonna open up RAVE and have a look for myself

I'd replace the copper inj. washers first as these are cheap then see how you go.

    Wink

Might put your mind at ease a bit I have seen this before on 300 tdi
L series fl1 diesel and td5 engines, on fl1 the lock nut had came loose and on the 300 and td5 the injectors had been removed and refitted using the original washers and the recess for the injector had not been cleaned.
new washers a clean up and new lock nuts cured them all
Only symptom on td5 was cylinders filling with fuel with ignition on!!
Your injectors should come out easy due to the fuel up the side of them, I would also replace leak off pipes.

OK so basically you just have to disconnect everything around the injectors ie. fuel lines and other little stuff then undo the 13mm lock nut and THEY SHOULD just pull out right?? or is there more to it?
