Mounting ideas - fire extinguisher & maglite

Don't have any photos of how I had my Maglite mounted but it was in the same position as yours. I attached a piece of plastic plumbers tube to the cargo barrier and dropped the Maglite into this. It cannot go anywhere except up to remove it and is as safe as it can be. Never had any issue on rough or corrugated roads in 50000kms. Fire extinguisher is best retained with a metal clamp rather than the plastic unit which could break in the event of a sudden stop.

Like I said, it's only temporary...but I see your point though. The back seat literally has never been used (well at least since I've owned it), so it seemed a convenient space to get me by for a couple of weeks. I'll have the tailgate sorted out better with a drawer system n shelves next week, so will re-evaluate where to put the sucker then.

Having said that though, where the maglite is mounted is great. Very easy to access via door or open window, is absolutely solid and in no danger of going anywhere. I used a big chunky cable-tie to strap it to the cargo barrier, but am going to upgrade the clips to quick-fist ones as an extra precaution (once I figure out who sells them locally!).

I've mounted my maglite using the supplied clips screwed onto the driver's seat side panel on my 95 D1.

I mounted it here so that it's immediately to hand before I jump out.

Should mount your Maglight the other way around (with the lamp to the rear) so that in the event of an accident you don't cop a Maglight to the ankles.:)

I'll definitely be turning it around after that good advice, but I reckon that an accident that is capable of pulling it out the holders will mean that my ankles are likely to be the least of my worries.:D

You'd be surprised... An accident at about 25km/h will send it forward easily...
