    Speed Sensor Location?

I had the speedo die very briefly on the was back from Brisbane the other week. It only died for a few seconds but it was enough to turn the cruise control off

I thought I'd check out the speed sensor to see if it needed a clean or the connections had got old. Only trouble is I can not find it, can someone point me in the right direction

Have a look at the transfer case. The speedo transducer should be near the handbrake.

Yep, it's between the handbrake drum & the T/box in a very fiddly position. There's not much you can do with it really, especially if the internal gubbins is shot or it's full of ****e from a cracked plastic housing but if you do remove it, ensure it's aligned correctly (a slight angle not vertical as you may think) & get the tiny drive shaft in correctly when replacing it.

A flexi/extension allen key do da will help as well.

Mine died, speedo went very erratic then nothing. Luckily, after some hunting around, it was just the plug fallen off. Cleaned up and put back on, viola. Hopefully its just the same with yours.

Another indicator is, that as it's tied into the ECU/Idle Control Valve you could get a bad idle on rundown, at lights etc.
