And 4.75:1
Though the words "polishing" and "manure" come to mind whenever I read about people spending large amounts of $ on rover axles to run big wheels.

I am presently in possession of four Landrovers - three with Maxi-Drive diflocks, axles, etc. I have done several hundred thousand kms on Maxi-Drive gear and have not had a problem with anything Maxi-Drive, and have worked them hard. I also have an RR classic with Airlockers fitted - if I keep the vehicle Hy-Tuff axles will be on the agenda - people I know have the ARB/Hy-Tuff combination and use their vehicles in extreme conditions without breakage.
I travel solo extensively in very remote parts of the country and only use gear that I know will not let me down.

So that's a no then?
What you have is not the issue, it suits you, but the conversion is a fantastic conversion for some, extreme conditions? what about those I know who have broken Maxidrive gear?...........

Lots of people happily running the conversion, and still 2 lots I've done are happily driving around, both with 350 chevs and 35" tyres
Maxi drive stuff does break if you're using it hard. From what I've seen its usually axles though and in one case the axle also damaged the locker dog. I've also broken a Maxidrive CV which were built for the Dakar vehicles.
I believe 4.3:1 was one of the ratios used in the rover cars (SD1 etc).
And here is Slunnie's pic of rover vs toyota. Toyota is on the left.

This is a 4.7. Fine teeth and a tiny pinion - worst of both worlds...

This conversion seems to be the goods... Parts should be pretty easy to source as well hey?? Could put a cheap as chips Lock Right in the arse end of it too for 450.. Makes more and more sense to do this conversion over a diff lock, axle and CW&P on the rover gear.. Will be much stronger too hey??
