I don't know if the D2 will fit the D1 but I know on my 200tdi the horn is not in the steering wheel it is on the indicator or wiper lever (can't remember which). Did they change it on the later D1s?

Call some wreckers like triumph rover spares, they have tons in stock.
Well, they did when I was there last time and my guess is that they don't exactly move the quickest.
If going there in person though, becareful cause it can seriously hurt your wallet.
