Hi All,
I have noticed a small leak on my 97 Disco 300TDI radiator and it seems to be coming from where the fins solder to the side of the rad. I have replaced the with Nulon 4 year stuff & distilled water every every four years since new so the rad should be in good nick other than the leak. I am wondering if I should get it repaired or just replace it given its 13 years old, I see you can buy Britpart ones on EBAY for $360 but not sure about the quality of these but I understand the originals are around $1200. I have not yet tried any bar seal type sealer but this could work as it's such a small leak. Any comments on the best way to go?
Cheers
Mark

$360 sounds very cheap, I had my 300TDi radiator fitted with a new core (H/D extra row of tubes) for $400, engine flush and new coolant, I would check with your local Rad man and see if it is worth repairing or get it recored, the end tanks don't wear out, only the core does, Regards Frank.

get it recored, or if you have the $$$ get a high efficiency one put in, I did and have never looked back but it did cost me a bloody heap. as above a new engine cost a heap more and a radiator
Just done mine not long ago, brought one of ebay myself for around the same dollars your talking about, also changed all my hoses, viscous coupling on the fan, new aftermarket air con thermo's (which are now hooked up to a switch on the dash), new water pump. Brought everything for just over $900 (money well spent in my eyes) my opinion REPLACE everything you think needs it then you will have a box of spares for those long journeys.
