I thought transfer case leaks were a feature to let you know you still had oil in there?? ;-)
Seriously though, yeah power steering pump will be around or just under $300.
Is it the actual pump leaking? I found the hose from the reservoir had a tendency to leak on mine....
I asked my L/R mechanic guru about my leaking Vac pump a while back and he didn't seem too concerned by it (although it wasnt leaking much) said i could tie a rag around it to stop the oil leaking, cheaper than a new pump..... ;-)
Has anyone had one fail? Mine leaked for a fair while before I got to replacing it.
Agree with previous comments though, breaking down out in the bush is a PAIN!!
repair or replace the leaking part from the powersteering system, if you're lucky its just the return hose and thats going to be cheap, If its the box proper replace it before it dumps the oil and shags the pump. loosing the power steering isnt always a show stopper providing A) the armstrong back up unit is up to speed and b) the pump doesnt seize up leaving you with no method of getting the other ancilleries to turn.
I would definately get the vac pump sorted as well theres nothing worse than the feel of all of a sudden un-assisted disc brakes that are wet, especially if the time you find out is a "Ohhh, crap stop, stop right now or we die" kind of time.
