just want some information on gas conversions for my 3.9 disco, i want twin bottles under the floor as i dont want a bottle in the back of the car. any ideas on what brands are available and how much they cost.

I just got quoted aroud $2800 for a install with the manifold tanks in the boot. The bloke on the other end was a bit vague but suggested the gas mixer was a positive pressure type made in Italy...![]()
Any brand can be made to fit under the car, but APA is the most common I think.
APA usually use 2 x H66 tanks side by side under the back of the car where the normal fuel tank fits. http://www.apamfg.com.au/Downloads/A...hart_07-09.pdf
This gives about 70 odd litres of LPG.
A 30L or so pertrol tank gets put on the drivers side behind the rear wheel, so you have small capacity for petrol only.
That is the setup I had on a previous Disco.
In underfloor setups, I have also seen two roughly 20L tanks placed down each side of the car between the chassis rails.
This is a similar type of tank setup they normally use for diesel/LPG setups.
This setup allows you to retain the original fuel tank, so that you can still have a decent range, but your LPG capacity is much lower.
Underfloor setups are usually in the $4000 range!
There's second hand stuff around, any Land Rover wrecker would get hold of underfloor kits. Should get you converted for under $3000 total, or under $1500 after the rebate. The rebate applies to second hand kits too.
..hum not in Tassie it don't! LPG is around 79cpl versus ULP at around 130cpl, and the engine uses more gas that premium/ULP, so the overall economy falls - unless you get the direct injection system, which is the best and simplest to install and run and produces the same m/kpg/l.
I've got installed a multipoint ECU controlled system (EMER) which is very good (no chance of nasty backfires) and which is the only LPG system I could find that works effectively with the supercharged engine.
Downside is the lack of gas capacity (under floor = 62L plus sub tank for the petrol of @ 40L). Running costs are cheaper than petrol, yes but not 50% often claimed but hopefully LPG prices will fall soon, otherwise the overall cost is probably not worth it here in Tas. It cost me 5k all up, minus the rebate (1750). The car gets around 35L/100klm or 8mpg when towing 3 horses etc.....ouch![]()
