Very common mate. Its a dry solder joint on a pcb inside the glovebox. Plenty of instructions on how to fix it on here somewhere. Did mine. Simple fix with a soldering iron.
Heres a good link...

I am about to offload my 97 Disco onto a relative who is in desperate need for a 4wd. The roadworthy guy has targeted the electric windows.
Got the front one fixed (busted rollers) but we have found that the rear ones dont seem to be getting any power. The fuses are good, the switches are good and the motors are good as when we hooked the motor directly to a batter it worked fine.
Has anybody encountered this problem before?

Typical Discovery, got the glove box out only to find that my ecu looks different to the one shown. Couldnt find the removable circuit board.
Fairly certain this is where the issue will be though.
Thats supprising mate. Mines a 98 and i dont remember it being any different from the photos. I do remember having to pop off the black facia panel to get to the board.
Could you see any boxes with 2 of those connectors sticking out?
It was the board that looked different and nothing wanted to come out. Will have another look tomorrow.
Update. I have just fixed the window problem. I had the same problem as the link that digahole posted (thanks). It was the same solder joint, 2 second job. Now my dog can hang his head out the window again!
Cheers
This particular ECU board fault, isn't the only fault that can be common to both rear windows.
There is a common earth supplied to both rear doors from the window isolation switch on the window switch console. You need to have that switch pressed to the 'in' position, as this arms (supplies earth) to both the rear window motors, via the middle pin (pin 3) on the rear door window switches.
Hope this helps,
Daryl.
Going to have another crack at this job on the weekend. Will let yez know the result.
Excellent thread, THANK-YOU all
I just used the instructions in the link Digahole78 posted to fix the window problem in Annette's disco.
very easy fix.Originally Posted by digahole78
a few things I found:
i.) you dont have to remove the glovebox completely ... just pull the arms on the side up to line up with the cutouts and the glovebox will tip forward and deposit all contents on the floor to allow access.
ii.) now you can finally clean out the glovebox like you've been meaning to do forever.
iii.) the facia around the two sockets on the ECU is clipped three times down each side to the box, use a short flat screwdriver to unclip as per instructions and then carefully wriggle the board past all obstructions to get it out. Can be done .... you'll see what I mean.
iv.) the circuit board was slightly different to the one shown in the instructions (looks like rev.3, from the markings on it) it has 5 relays but the problem was partly the same and easily identifiable.
v.) the socket "CN2" (small blades) also seemed to have a couple of bad solder joints.
vi.) there are a couple of "M" shaped wire links (marked RW2) on the board, one end of one of then was completely loose and seemed to repel the solder when I resoldered it until I got enough heat into it.
I took pics but didn't bother posting them because the link has all you need to know
Good Luck
have fun

Now to put it all back and then I'll have a look at the one in mine.![]()
