    D1 Glovebox Light.

Can someone confirm that the D1 glovebox light will come on, only if the main light switch is on 'parkers' or 'main lights'? Mine's a 1995 MA VIN.

    Thanks,
    Daryl.

Thanks for that. Obviously the design team never went to the glovebox from the passenger door at night.

Guess my next question should be....... did these vehicles come with night vision goggles?

    Time for a re-wire!!

    Cheers,
    Daryl.

Speaking of wiring. You may have also noticed that if the driver's door is open the rear window washer/ wiper won't work.

The front headlight washers only work every 3rd push too.

    Thanks 4bee.

Damn ...... another one the design team missed! Surely they must have considered the driver looking through the rear window while he was pushing his Disco backwards in the rain???

    Cheers.

You may jest,cw, but I'd like a $ for every article I have read where people complain that when sitting in the driver's seat wanting to test the wiper/washer with their leg hanging out & it doesn't work so ask the question.
It didn't seem to apply to all MA prefix, just some, & it was theorised that it was a carryover from the RaRo with the lift tailgate window & it's top mounted wiper, even the same wiring loom.

The glovebox light on my 95 fell out, shorted itself, then the whole wiring loom from the passengers side to the drivers side let all the Lucas smoke out. Had to get another loom and refit it. Don't forget 85% of Landrover production is for LHD, (they told me this when we did the factory tour)some of the so called design faults are attributed to this. Thats probably why the bonnet release is on our passengers side, even though the marketing people claim it is a safety issue as you are operating the bonnet release from kerb side of the vehicle.

But wouldn't that also be dangerous on a LHD? One's arse would be on the passing traffic side. Gems ain't they?

    Gems indeed ..... here's another.
I looked into why the right rear window lift motor wasn't working and found that the motor was faulty. A mate had a wrecked D1, so off I trundled and removed the four lift motors, which were the same as per the manual and the parts catalogue. So, back to my D1, I stripped away the waterproof membrane to be confronted with ...... the lift motor and regulator from a 92-94 RRC!!! Totally different kettle of fish and different mounting and motor.
So, that window is staying shut!
