Brake lights flickering...loose connection perhaps?

I just change my break switch the other day as the switch itself was sticking closed.
I have a 95 V8 and I used the switch out of the 94 TDI I have just got for parts and they were both the same.

I've just changed my switch - and hello hello the pedal doesn't travel far enough to activate it - brake lights on the whole time!!

Has anyone seen this before or have any good ideas for a permanent solution?
