Thread: problems with a mechanic

Update....
Spoke to the mechanic again, basically got told by them that they wanted nothing to do with it and to **** off. So had it picked up by the towie, got it home and opened the bonnet. **** everywhere, the fan all the belts everything was off. didnt even have the courtesy to put it back together.
worse still when they have taken the fan off they have bashed the nut with a screwdriver and ****ed it so need a new one.

Am going to sell it on Ebay soon will post link when i start the auction.
i love Landys especially Disco's but at the moment i can't afford 3 cars. might buy another one in a few years when i go up north....providing i get into the army.

I would still be chasing it thru Fair Trading, especially considering the condition they have left the vehicle in.

In reality, it might only cost you a couple of stamps, a few phone calls and a bit of time.

At the end of the day, they have made an error, and need to be held accountable for their actions.

sounds like the mechanic has the best outcome he got paid for the job and you have a car worth less. i would personally fight harder with legal letters and not let him get away with it (if its there fault and can be proved )

time to stand your ground and go them!

Seriously, time to talk to fair trading - won't cost you much and if what you have said is true, you'll get your car fixed and possibly your money back too.

It is your DUTY to fellow land rover owners, and 4wd owners of a wider variety, to make sure these bastards get what is owing them.

Seriously, it will take about as much effort as posting here. Document, it, take pictures of the car as it has been returned, send it to fair trading.

Possible outcomes:

1. Fair trading makes them do the right thing
2. They might scurry back and offer to do the right thing
3. Compromise (whats it worth to install a used engine, for example)

hit them for the whole 9 yards it was unsafe with the idle screw unset.

if its come back to you other than how you gave it to them straight to consumer affairs with you.

Mate fair trading are very good I can assure you give them a call they will get things sorted in a jiffy..and if you can take photo's of how the car was given back before you touch it
