I have a sept '93 build with tdi200 lt77,
with the 24 spline axils.
Best of both, but with the old interior,
i've had it for 13 years now so i'll live with it.

congratulations fermion, on buying a disco.
i have a 300 tdi also, 95, and enjoy it's economy and comfort.
the boys seem to have got into a bit of waffle about different things you asked about.
i don't think you mentioned what gearbox it has, but i suspect it is an auto.
the twin airbags were a world first at the time.
oil leaks come standard with land rovers, so you get used to that,
but after you have had time to sort through it all you can work on those things.
as for the model issue, mine is an 'es' 'extra ****' [thanks pete]
and has twin bags, leather, twin sunroofs [about the only time in the english language that you can say 'roofs']
and other stuff that isn't on my other car, also a 95 disco. [don't ask!]
so enjoy your new car,
you're among friends here.

Thanks everyone for the responses, I appreciate all the information I can get.
Harry: it is a manual. I haven't had a huge amount of time to drive it but am very much enjoying the comfort and how well it hugs the road.

Well done and welcome to the fold if this is your first LR.
difference between the R380 gearbox (later) and LT77 (earlier) at the gear stick is that the LT77 reverse is left and forward and the R380 is right and back (more conventional).
Interestingly, i have noticed that the 300TDi Disco is becoming the pick of the more recent land rovers. No electronics (to speak of), wheel bearings easy and relatively cheap to replace and generally reliable if 'respected' (ie serviced regularly and treated with a bit of mechanical sympathy).
btw&ime, the leaking (?) vacuum pump MIGHT be fixed by just tightening the bolts up - depends on where the leak is coming from.
good luck
