I'd put another 20-30k on it. Keep an eye on it by doing what you have done and looking to see any traces of debry in the timing case at every service.

What year is the vehicle? The later ones will not have any issues and you should get 80k without a problem. The earlier 300Tdi have to have a mod made to prevent warping the timing case. A floating bracket between the engine block and injection pump. Can't remember if something else was required but if done there should be a yellow bit of paint up on the top of the timing case.

I kept the wading plug in and collected all the debry, in the end it was an oil seal that needed to be replaced that drove the need to pull the timing case off.

Meh 7.5 years out of a belt they really aren't that expesive to change compare to the damage that can be done once they break

The LR specs for a 300TDI are 80000KM or six years. so it is due for a change

I changed a 180.000km belt (the original one) from a '98 TDI Disco, it came because the oil pump gear was suddenly broken. If not, I think there was no problem to arrive to 200kkm!
The best is to follow LR recs as woko indicated.

I reckon I'd change it - too risky.
Rubber composite materials deteriorate with age.
Rubber compound tyres are rated for 6 years so maybe use that as a rule of thumb.

Bought my 1998 dicsoverytdi with 136k on clock. Had immacualate service history. Well, except for the belt as the garage that was servicing it weren’t LR specialists though highly regarded. So, 10years and 136k it lasted. Personal choice, but you’re not really saving anything as it’s a cost that you are going to incur anyway. Except, by extending it beyond the manufacturers specs you increase the risk of a (severe) problem.

The manual says 67 000 (short trips, heavy load etc) to 80 000km, I have a 97 300tdi with 302000km on the clock that I've just had the belt replaced. The kit consists of the belt and replacement pulleys and at about $350 is a good investment to avoid the substantial damage that will happen with a belt failure. Just a tip research your area for the best LR mechanic to do the install as not all mechanics understand LRs and with a mechanic that doesn't know LR well it can get very expensive time wise.
