    Thumbs up Fuel Consumption ... 96 2.5Tdi

I have just Gone through my first tank of diesel in the Disco since I bought it last Monday, well the better part of it anyway.

With combined freeway, stop start and I guess you could call it moderate off roading (through mud and hill climbing) I burned up around 77ltrs and travelled 813kms which works out to be a tad shy of 9.5l/100km.

Im just curious to know what kind of fuel economy you guys are getting from your's, from standard 2.5's to modified. The Dicso has the Mitsu turbo kit and exhaust upgrade.

I know turbo diesels are awesome on Fuel economy in general, which is kinda how I convinced wifey to let me buy the Disco
But I was astounded that a 2 tonne vehicle with a little engine could achieve sub 10lts!!!
My VE SS with my wife driving locally, Hell even on the highway would be lucky to see them kinds of figures! ... Ok apples and oranges here, but I had my reservations about the discos fuel economy and was waiting for an ear bashing from Wifey about how much it is gonna cost to run .... LOL

    Consumption Opinion

Hi, I have had both TD200 and TD 300, the TD200 would regularly see closer to 800 klms out of a tank, and my TD300 would see the same as your figures, But my V8 Disco on gas only gets 260klms out of a tank of LPG, but with a big exhaust you dont mind so much... Atleast thats what I keep telling myself...

    That sounds about right.

Try getting Dgas fitted now. More power and even better economy.
    Just a thought.

Mine is a 300 TDi unmodified and gets about 10L/100 km regardless.

My 300tdi gets around 10L-11L per 100k's, but I have it loaded pretty well all the time, (draws, Fridge etc), also has a winch on the front, so she is pulling a bit of extra weight.
Still pulls well, but am considering going down the Dgas route, to give me a boost towing the camper.
When I first got it I used to regularly get sub 10's, but that was stock with nothing in the back.

    G'day all

WoW pretty impressive figures there! Wish I could say the same for my beloved 300tdi disco but I can't lol.

Ok she is running a bigger cooler, tweaked injector pump, boosted to 18 psi and a straight threw exhaust and a uni filter which in hand I'm getting about 450k per tank might be a bit more but that's the reading until the second last notch on the petrol gauge. Guessing main reason why it's so low is because of the more fueling at the pump. Either way I love my 300tdi.

Spanners, even with those mods you should be getting 10/100. Mine is modified too and sometimes gets under 10. Gets 11/100 towing 1.5 tonne camper trailer...

    G'day Brian

Yeahhh that's what I would have thought also, I mean I give her a good service every 5 thou meaning oils and filters and she seems to be running great besides the fuel consumption. What else could be the problem in regards to the fuel usage? Sorry guys if I'm hijacking the thread.

    Cheers spanners
