When I took my radiator in to get fixed, I left the intercooler assembly in - which they checked, they found it had a bunch of cracks / leaks - lots of pressure going nowhere. Worth a look maybe?

i don't think the performance has changed it doesn't realy feel like it i thought i had checked all the lines from the turbo under bonnet ill go over them again though

and as for cracks in the inter cooler i sprayed it with electrical contact cleaner which if there are any cracks or leaking hoses it will get sucked in through them and the revs will pickup aerostart would do the same thing

ill try to get the suction hose off the turbo tomorrow night and check the inside of it as it may be sucking in somewhere it is a bit old looking and it was a bit hot today

Just check that the throttle cable hasn't slackened off, less fuel = less boost....

Spraying aerostart or electrical contact cleaner, or any thing
else on the intercooler will not get sucked in and lift revs
as it is pressurised by the turbo and will be leaking out
    not in.

its all good now it was the fitting on the back of the gauge i checked all the other lines under the bonnet but didn't think it would have come loose at the gauge

the contact cleaner/ aerostart thing was told to me by a mechanic at work cos when the engine is idling the turbo isn't putting out much pressure and if there's a leak it will get sucked in. i didn't think it would work either but hes the mechanic so i though it was worth a try. maybe ill loosen off the inter cooler to manifold hose and try it on the weekend

thanks everyone hope this helps someone else one day i was having bad thoughts about turbo repairs
