hey mate, i hav '97 300 tdi with 2"dobinsons coils with bilstein shocks... i run 235/85 KM2's (32inch) standard gearing. it runs a treat! minimum fuel economy loss, no loss in power at all!(dont care what ppl say but mine has not slowed one bit, even on hills) better revs on highway and minimum mods. all i did was a camel cut on rear otherwise the tread will grad the guard under flex and make a nice mess of it. and re-bend metal brackets theat hold the mudflaps in place. i find the 32's to be a perfect match all round for the D1

The V8i will chew fuel like anything. You will get around 400k's per tank if you are lucky. The little V8 will run about 2000rpm at 100ks and will struggle to maintain. Usual fix is to fit the 1.4 ratio to high range in transfer case, or change diff gears. I have just ordered transfer case gears from Ashcroft in the U.K. Complete gear set & input gear plus bearing and gasket kit 455pounds landed in Central Queensland. I run 265/75/16 MTZ on my baby and can't wait to do the upgrade. Also your brakes will struggle with the extra rolling radius. I fitted vented disc's and the larger defender calipers (straight bolt in).
Hope this hasn't dampened your enthusiasm

yeh thats where i am glad i got the diesel... i had my heart set on the V8 ... (as you would know) they sound f***ing awesome with a decent pipe... but my diesel come along at the right price and im now really glad i got it as i do a fair few kms and i would be racking up a huge fuel bill if i had the V8!!! still want that sound though haha
