    fuel problem

my 300tdi has a fuel problem, any ideas what it could be?
i have cracked an injector and turned the engine over but no fuel is getting through.
i have undone the bleed screw on top of the filter housing and turned the engine over, still no fuel.
the mechanical lift pump on the side of the block does not seem to be working as the lever moves very easily and don't feel like it is pumping fuel.
i am planning to keep working back along the fuel line to the tank until i find fuel any advice would be appreciated.

If the lift pump is broken try find an electric Facet pump or similar. Allows you to prime the injector pump without needless cranking. And check the cut-off solenoid wire is still connected and working (at the injector pump.)

Sounds like the fuel pump isn't moving the fuel.
Could be a blockage in the primary filter/water trap(at the rear).
See if you can rig a fuel line from the intake side of the pump into a drum of fuel and check the flow.
OR as bee uety by-pass the pump and use an electric one for testing.

Undo the fuel filler cap while listening for air movment.
Maybe the tank isn't venting, long shot though.

I don't know on the Disco 1's but I have used low air preshure(air line in filler neck with a rag blocking the gap) to force the fuel up the system while the bleader screws were open on trucks.
    Cheers, Kyle

I have undone the line from the tank to the lift pump and dropped the end of it to below the level of the tank and fuel runs from the pipe. does this mean the lift pump is scrap?
i have tried priming the pump but there does not seem to be any pressure build up at all, i have tried cranking it many times to rotate the cam but this does not make any difference.

I've removed the lift pump and it is at fault, the arm does not connect with pump mechanism
