diff locks

There are no lokka's for Landies (front or rear), so you're out of luck there.

I spoke to TJM yesterday about their pro lockers for a Disco, and yes, they have them on the market now, so I was informed. Around the $1250 mark supply only.

ARB's are a similar price to the TJM's when you buy in Australia.

I just purchased a Detroit Locker for the rear of mine, and an ARB for the front. Haven't got them installed yet, the ARB hasn't even landed. Detroit was $720 shipped to my door, ARB was $850 shipped to my door.

Search around the forum, you'll find loads of info to assist in your decisions.

So on a auto 300 TDI will the 24 spine rear factory axels handle a Detroit locker or will you need to updrade these too?

Depends on what you're doing with it, what tyres you're running, and how careful you are with the way you drive.

I'd advise to have them upgraded when you can afford it.

By locking the diff, you're essentially (at times) putting stresses on the axels that they weren't meant to take when leaving the factory.

If you run 33" muddies or bigger you WILL eventually break a standard axle if doing half serious 4WDing. I snapped my first one the other day, 300tdi auto with KAM locker, and that was on a gravelly hill and I was only giving it a gentle boot. I have done a fair few trips with standard axles, but you never know how much they are twisting and one day it will go bang.

I still have standard axles, shopping for uprated ones from lucky8 / rovertracks.

I got my rears (HiTough) from Les Richmond, and I got the LongTracks fronts and CV's directly from Rovertracks. Both great to deal with.

Zuno555 let me know what prices you get for the rear axels, I might get some at the same time. Have ordered a Detroit Locker from US and it should arive early in the new year. Im running 32" Mungrels off Rd, which I give a flogging.

Dave, not sure about the other guys, but I got mine from jegs.com and it was AU$720 landed (dollar was .96 I think). Probably a bit more than other sellers, but no-one had stock when I wanted to buy. They use Fed Ex so shipping was a fair chunk of the $720, but it got to my door in 3 days from the US. They are excellent with their communication, very professional outfit. Highly recommend them.

Would have bought from lucky8, but they didn't have stock, and an ebay seller I wanted to buy from also didn't have stock.

Just purchased on the weekend from a ebay seller in the US, all up with OZ dollar conversion it = $680.00 including US postal. Not sure how long it will take, I dont plant to go out 4WD until Feb.

I have ARB lockers front and rear in mine. I did the axles at the same time, some may say that you dont need them but if you are going to drive in terrain that requires a locker then doing the axles at the same time is a good idea. You could keep the standard axles and replace them if they break but then you are just doubling up on labour for the work. The axles have to come out to replace the diff centre so there is no extra labour involved in fitting the axles at the same time.
