Robert, The dizzy just gives a signal to the module to fire. It is hard to see how it could cause it to burn out.
ON THE OTHER HAND a coil that demands too much from a module will cause it to burn out maybe quickly. Do you have the original coil or an aftermarket one?
There are a number of threads here about changing the module to a Bosch PIM which is more robust and can tolerate different coils so have a search and see.
But IMHO until I am corrected I cannot see that the dizzy would have a major role.
