Ace, the quote was over the top.
I had mine rodded for $130, including removal and refit. It was 20% blocked, but not that I had noticed any problems prior to the rodding. I was simply getting it done as part of preventative maintenance together with coolant & all hoses changed.
If your tanks are in good nick and you've been kind to the system with regular coolant changes there's often no need to get a new one.
They can be opened up and repaired or rodded out. This is a regular repair procedure at many radiator specialists. My Falcon was done last year. R&R by me, then off to the radiator shop for clean out, one new plastic tank, $180. Some can be done more than once, depends on the quality of the clamp tabs.
I paid $110 this time last year in Brisbane.
Thanks for the input guys, I thought $280 was a bit to much, and that was with me removing and refitting.
I'll suss out this one from the UK and go with a new one I think, in the end its going to work out much the same.
