If you don't want it to crack the mounts the kits the way to go.
hey guys i got a 92 disco and was wondering whats the go with doing a 2inch body lift? do i need to have all the million pieces ive seen with some kits or will it be fine to just have the spacers and longer bolts? my disco already has a 2inch lift and with a 2inch lift and a body lift will the car be able to take 33inch tyres?
If you don't want it to crack the mounts the kits the way to go.
33s should fit with a 4" lift but check the offset, and you might need to trim your guards, and add some flares. I dunno if they'd fit on standard rims, it depends how wide ur going. My 31s rub on the inside just on full lock on standard rims.
As far as kits go im told the white tiger lift kit is the way to go. The cheapies dont come with any re enforcing, or the ability to lift your bar work which you'll need to do so your headlights clear it. you'll also need to grab some new longer break lines.
I have had 3 Rovers with body lifts. Apart from the body blocks you will also need risers for the seat belt mounts, top radiator support, rear brake line extension, extension for the steering shaft and front and rear bumper risers.
except for the steering shaft, you can make all the others if you are 'handy' around vehicles with a bit of metal fabrication.
the steering shaft extension was used in onely one of my disco's and the other it wasnt used. I never had a problem without using it, but I felt safer in the one with it as it had more meat on the spline.
have a look at one of my old threads, theres info here on my first body lift

cheers
I have just finished installing the white tiger 2 inch kit into my 95 disco, its about a 2 day job and i would really recommend getting this kit or one similar as the amount of random mounts and crap the kit came with was very very handy, i have body lifted older 4wd's with just body blocks and this isn't the kind of car you can do this with properly.
pm if you have any questions and if your a Brisbane local just come have a look.
I got 60mm extended brake lines from Les Richmond in thomastown after i burst both front lines.
As for the 37's its a bit of an overkill just for tracks isnt it. All they are doing is making the tracks unusable for the average 4wder. I only fitted 35's to mine for clearance for when i head up north (once the beast is finished). While I'm out exploring i try my hardest not to ruin the tracks for the next person. I'm not knocking them for using them don't get me wrong a little more clearance is always good but realistically how many of us can afford the mods required to run 37's (lift, radius arms etc) not to mention the cost of tyres. I know how much mine cost and i wish i had the cash to buy a spare set of At's so i dont wear out my muddies on the hwy let alone buy a set of 37's for weekend fravolities.
hell i can agree with the tyre size issue, im still running 33 mongrels up here in brisbane and its effective but every time ive been home to gippsland its just way to small. and yeah it is annoying to find the tracks stuffed it just ends in them being closed. ive extended my brake lines by dropping the mounts off the body and rasing them from the front dust cover mounts just not sure if its going to be enough
ps i didnt mean to hijack the thread
I also have a 2 inch suspension lift and was wondering if I got a 1 inch body lift, would I still need to modify the brake lines and everything else, as with a 2 inch lift?
Is there much differance between the modifications between 1 inch body lift and 2 inches.
The main reason for the lift is to fit the bigger tires. I am also going to cut the wheel arches and add some flares. While on the topic, does anyone know where and how much to chop off? I've added 265/75/16's
I also intend on fitting air bag s to the rear suspension.
