It no longer starts v8 96 model

Quick update, last night changed the plenum over to the spare ran some sealant around it and seems to have improved things. changed the IAC over in the same process and now have idle however still sits at 1,100 for a bit then settles down for example when pulling up at the lights / stop sign sometimes stalls so need some other adjustment perhaps MAF which is currently at 1.4 volts or can i adjust the butterfly?

Now I never took any notice of this with the old engine so is this normal to idle at about 1100 or should it just always return to idle regardless?

I have also noticed that its running really rich ie flooding itself when trying to start the engine and need to know how to adjust this or is there a faulty sensor perhaps that I need to swap out.

On the test run although cold ish last night the temp didn't go over 70. So im wondering if the thermostat is shot even though new and if that is perhaps effecting my fuel issue as the car is not maintaining running temperature. Any thoughts if this would cause my flooding problem.

The 14CUX will hold idle at 1100 if TPS =idle, VSS=signal,RPM <1500.
ie it is quite normal to hold 1100RPM when you slow down to stop. As soon as you stop fully it should go down to 750.
It is to smooth the 2-1 change in an auto , but I dunno why in a manual but nearly all Bosch based ECUs do it.

The ECU will richen (put the choke on) if the ECU temp sender sees less than 80 degrees C. So yes.

Thanks Philip for the info makes sense so will be swapping out the thermostat and see if that improves things.

Ok so I bought a new thermostat 88c and installed it last night. Went for a test drive and I'm lucky if the car gets to 80 degrees on the engine watchdog gadget and thats with the Air Con on everything as I tried to load it up.

Its still a pain in the a#$ to start once warm and is rich in fuel mixture, idle hunts then settles down. maybe time to take it to the mechanic to finish off the loose ends.

Have you checked the resistance of the sender to the ECU ie the one with 2 terminals on top of the manifold?

Thanks Philip for the great info, ran the meter across them and all good. But when doing that I noticed a smell of fuel which I thought was odd as the car hasn't been started that day. So I changed all the injectors over and bang problem solved.

Starts first go everytime, idles normally and behaves like it use too.

So thank you for your great advice and assistance. Now to fix the speedo as it has a mind of its own lately.

How much does a set of injectors cost? Is there a trustworthy second hand place I can get some?

Sill having issues with mine, thinking it might be an idea to swap them.....

AH HA, If your speedo is playing up the VSS could be playing up, and this could be related to your strange idle speeds. The speedo is electronic so forget about cables etc. The VSS on them AFAIK is on the side of the transfer where the cable goes in earlier models.
